On March 17, Apple will unveil a preview of the upcoming iPhone 3.0 firmware, and while we’re still not quite sure what this new iteration will feature, rumors has it that it will come with multitasking, MMS, push notifications, and everyone’s dream feature, cut/paste.
As a matter of fact, Digg’s Kevin Rose has gone on the record saying that cut/paste functionality is indeed part of the iPhone 3.0 firmware. However, he doesn’t think that background app support will be on the agenda. It’s a real bummer to hear that, but hey, this isn’t official by any means and he couldn’t be totally wrong. It could still support background apps with cut/paste and possibly even the entire feature set we mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, it could also go the other way around and feature none the items we just listed.
Anyway, we’ve got March 17 to look forward to when we can finally get confirmation on all of this. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that hopefully, all the features we’ve been so patiently waiting for to become available on the iPhone will finally be included in their latest firmware release.
