Telefonica And NTT DoCoMo Announce The Toshiba TG01, Service & Software Collaborations

Two giant carriers namely Spain’s Telefónica and japan’s NTT DoCoMo are set to launch the highly anticipated Toshiba TG01 smartphone starting June or July. NTT will be selling it under the name of docomo PRO series T-01A in Japan. As a reminder, this high-end smartphone offers a huge 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS (upgradeable to 6.5), a 3D user interface, Wi-Fi, GPS and a microSD card slot. Sadly, there’s no word on pricing so far. In addition, both companies are also planning to collaborate for developing “possible services and applications for open OS handsets.”

We're not all that keen on covering the Japanese world of high-style feature phones, what with them never seeing the light of day outside Japan's borders. Call it jealously if you want, but it's just easier to not think about the cool WiBro and electronic wallet technologies that those Japanese feature phones are rocking these days.

So, it's with great pleasure that we bring you the first ever NTT DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) handset to launch outside of the island nation. The Fujitsu (OTCPK: FJTSY) F905i has been launched by NTT DoCoMo's strategic partner carrier Far EasTone in Taiwan, and sports Taiwanese character support and works with the carrier's i-mode data network.

Like it's NTT DoCoMo forebear, the Fujitsu FOMA F905i, the Fujitsu F905i sports a 3.2-inch WVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, and Fujitsu's proprietary audio technology. And, with a sleek clamshell design, the F905i is sure to bring a spoonful of joy to tech-hungry mobile enthusiasts in Taiwan.

Well if you have a few mobile phones to launch you may as well launch a lot, and it appears Japan's NTT DoCoMo are doing just that, like 22 mobile phones being released between now and March 09.

Quite a few mobile phones then with the NTT DoCoMo range being…Style Series with 6 handsets- - Prime Series with 7 handsets- - Smart Series with 4 handsets - - and Pro Series with 5 handsets.

Most are old sliders or plain clamshells, but the Prime Series does have the Blackberry Bold, HTC Touch Pro, HTC Touch Diamond, Nokia E71 and the rip-off Touch Pro the Sharp On. For a full list of handsets hit up the source.
