Google (NSDQ: GOOG) announced that two of its web services have been updated for iPhone and Android browser. The new version of Google Calendar for the iPhone adding features like (some) offline access, a “floaty bar” for archive, delete, and more, and quicker access to search and tasks. By enhancing the functionality of its two features - the mobile Gmail service and Google Calendar - using hard line caching and new browser technologies, like HTML5 and Gears, Google Tuesday boosted up the Apple iPhone and Android browsers.
The big new features in the new version of Google Calendar for the iPhone are the ability to edit existing appointments, invite other people to events, and the ability to manage appointment invitations and attendance statuses. Search has been moved to the top for easier access, and individual message appearance has been overhauled, so that reading your emails on the iPhone more closely resembles the desktop Gmail experience.
Likewise, the Google Calendar updates work with Android or the iPhone and require the 2.2.1 iPhone OS.
