Samsung Tocco LiteIf there’s one thing you can say about Samsung (apart from them really knowing how to make an attractive phone), it’s that they really love their touchscreens. They haven’t got just one sub-brand of touchscreen phones, they’ve got two. Up the top-end, you’ve got the Omnia series phones, like the Samsung Omnia HD (or i8910 HD, as it may end up being).

But in the more mid-range, affordable bracket, the Tocco series reigns supreme.

It’s about to reign a bit more supremely, according to MobileBurn, because there’s a new one on the way: the mid-range, but utterly adorable Samsung Tocco Lite. Straight off the bat, you can see it’s based on its predecessor, the original Tocco, with the same 3 buttons at the bottom, and the same gorgeous TouchWiz interface.

However, it’s designed to appeal to more of a mass market, and that means a cheaper price. So, to actually make it cheaper, the camera’s now a 3 megapixel shooter (although you get awesome stuff like Smile Shot included), and it doesn’t have 3G. But then, that’s because it’s going up against the LG Cookie, and the features, comparing the two, are almost indistinguishable.

So, even within the mid-range, there’s different levels of ‘mid-range’. Up the top-end of the mid-range (I’m going cross-eyed trying to keep track of all these ranges), there’s the Samsung Tocco Ultra, with the slidy keypad, and the 8 megapixel camera, and the utter loveliness. Down the entry-level bit of the mid-range, there’s now the Samsung Tocco Lite, with a 3MP camera and no keypad, but, and this is important, the same utter loveliness.

Plus, it will have the same Widget-y goodness found on all Samsung’s touch phones, with dedicated widgets for things like Facebook turning it into your very own mobile soc networking hub.

All in all, then, since I bet it’ll be dirt cheap, not a bad purchase at all!
