EME concept phone

You may well never have heard of this guy before (don’t worry, neither had I), but I’ve been forced to come to the conclusion, today, that designer Shao Wei Huang is a twisted genius. Y’see, according to Tuvie, he’s the guy responsible for one of the funkiest concept phones I’ve seen in a chuffin’ long time.

Called the EME (Evolutional Mobile Entertainment), it’s basically a shape-shifting mobile phone, that lets you slide out a second screen for things like gaming, or two massive speakers from the back, to turn it into a portable media hub… or even pull the phone in two, with the two halves joined by what look like rubber hinges, and wear it like a glove.

Mental, I tell ya. But really quite clever, too.

And then, of course, there’s the multimedia hub that comes with it, and pairs with your whole family’s collection of EMEs to make a little sharing network, for swapping content, and what have you. How best to describe it… just imagine if you got a Windows Mobile phone, like the Toshiba TG01 and it was paired with your XBox, so that your gaming experience was spread across the console itself, and your mobile phone (and on a side note, anyone who doesn’t think Microsoft will do that one day is in denial)…

Of course, whether any manufacturers will look at this concept and not go “ooh, crikey, no way we’re making something as complicated as that” is open to debate, but hey, we can live in hope…
