Sony Ericsson has just unveiled 'Idou' (rhymes with "doodoo"), its first 12 Megapixel camera phone at MWC 2009. The Idou also offers a Cyber-shot camera with xenon flash. The phone will be one of the firm's first to be based on pure Symbian instead of UIQ and will use a custom touch interface with an emphasis on media playback. The handset will feature a 16.7 million color screen in 16:9 widescreen format, and will have a full-touch media menu to tap directly into movies, TV-series and video clips. The screen makes it truly enjoyable to watch full-lenght movies on the handset itself.

Media bar and music player are also packed in 'Idou', brings the mind the generic Sony multimedia 'ident'. The homescreen was customised and had a Sony Ericsson style which reminded be of the W960. The Sony Ericsson Idou has a microSD memory card slot. That means that the manufacturer of the device is again not Sony Ericsson themselves - just as XPERIA X1. Release dates are scheduled for sometime in the second half of this year.
