Samsung joins the ranks of mobile phone manufacturers and other companies who are concerned with the environment with the launched of its solar-powered full-touch screen phone dubbed "Blue Earth". This eco-friendly mobile phone generates power for mobile calling through a solar panel located on its back. Samsung assures that the solar panel is capable of generating enough energy to power the phone's calling feature.Aside from running on solar power, the Samsung Blue Earth was also made from recycled materiasl, more particularly from PCM. Extracted from water bottles, this helps reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions during the manufacturing process of the Blue Earth phone. The Blue Earth is also free from hazardous substances including Brominated Flame Retardants, Berrylium and Phthalate.
The Samsung Blue Earth also features an innovative and easy-to-use interface. You can easily adjust the phone's brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth to energy-efficient mode. It also lets you switch from "Eco modE" or use the "Eco walk" function to count your steps using the phone's built-in pedometer. This allows you to calculate the value of your footprint as compared to using motorized transport and the number of trees that you've saved.
The phone's also comes with a 5 star energy efficient charger that utilizes standby power which is lower than 0.03w.
The Samsung Blue Earth phone will be officially launched during the Mobile World Congress happening in Barcelone on February 16.
