We were already looking forward to Window Mobile 7 making a grand debut in 2009, but it seems we'll have to wait a little longer to see this brand new mobile OS become publicly available.
Steve Ballmer has confirmed that Windows Mobile 6.5 will be the new version of WM that will come out in 2009, and only after then will we see Windows Mobile 7 which we're guessing would be in 2010. Unfortunately, aside from the assurance that Window Mobile 6.5 will be released next year, no further details as to its features nor its exact release date was revealed. I guess will just have to wait for 2009 to get more juicy info on this new iteration of Windows Mobile, but to be quite honest, we're a bit disappointed that it's not Windows Mobile 7 we'll be seeing next year.
For what it's worth, at least Microsoft is updating WM 6.1. Despite it already being a relatively new OS, apparently it's still not good enough to rival the new breed of mobile OS out now such as the Android and the iPhone's mobile Mac. You better get your act together Microsoft unless you want to further go down in the rankings.
